From the Command Room, Lau turns his attention
to Slater Johnson, peering at the School of Miracles representative with suspicious
eyes. All of the other competitors have contributed a voice to the show
except for him.
Lau clicks on his wrist mic.
LAU
Falcon. I suggest that Adrien go next.
FALCON
Doesn’t the current champion normally go last?
LAU
Yes, that’s true. But at this very moment, the
portal is at 100 percent stability. Given our precautionary
measures regarding Adrien, now would be the best time for him to
provide a sample of his abilities.
FALCON
Dr. Caine?
CAINE
Plumley’s suit is holding steady. But physically I’m not sure how much more he can take. It could be to our advantage to have Adrien get it over with, so I
concur with Dr. Lau.
FALCON
Very well. Adrien?
Adrien smiles. All eyes are on him as he steps toward the platform. He stares at Plumley. This is the third time these two have faced each other. Plumley frowns.
